Thank you! I just asked a question about this functionality in a thread on BigBoss' blog and was accused of being you, trying to promote the Umbrella

Will try this later today, when time permits. Can't wait

hosts is pointing to saurik's server (which has my blob on file),and I get the following when I run java -jar umbrella.jar -v 3.0 -e 000000xxxxxxxxxx

The old version (which saved 3 files) worked on my Mac. The current one, when run on the same Mac, gives me:

    Collecting all blobs...
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jdom/Content
    at com.semaphore.Umbrella.execute(Umbrella.java:104)
    at com.semaphore.Umbrella.main(Umbrella.java:59)

    and no shsh is written.

I think there is something wrong with the current umbrella.jar file.

Just to confirm, the latest umbrella.jar is currently broken - the compiled Windows EXE versions of it work fine however, so use them if you can.

I tried to compile it from source, but unfortunately could not get it to work successfully. I'll let semaphore know there's a problem when he's about.

First of all, thank you to all you guys Xsemaphorex, Iguru, ofcourse Saurik!

My latest status is: I've a pending TSS request, so Im queing to have Saurik to make my life easier! I guess I am golden for now as we have full confidence in Saurik. Yet, i agree that it couldnt hurt to have the files on your own computer.
I'd done my readings (the readme file and the comments in this thread). Call me a slow learner, but i still haven't figured out to where I have to point my etc/hosts file? To apple or saurik?

To clarify things: am using JBed 3GS fw 3.0.1. Changed my etc/hosts file pointing to Saurik already, but have NOT restored yet. So, when point to apple, do I need to undo the change in the host file first?

You are exactly right. I forgot to change the MANIFEST.MF file for umbrella.jar when I added the XML parsing code dependencies.

Got same problem as you, got java installed read everything in the readme and still this. Also tried this in windows xp, type umbrella <my ecid> <chip id> press enter and... nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Check the blog this evening. I'll upload the fix and change the links by then.

  11. #71
In the latest build, this string works for me:

    umbrella.exe -v 3.0 -e <ecid> -c 8920

Well, more or less, because my ECID isn't stored on the Cydia server, but at least now I know (thanks!). The 3.1 blobs can be picked up just fine using that string, when properly modified. Just remember to set the cydia server in the hosts file.

Most likely you haven't cd'd to the file location.

    1) Extract fw-umbrella-semaphore.zip to your Desktop.
    2) Open cmd.exe (Windows) or Terminal.app (Mac)
    3) Type: cd Desktop/fw-umbrella-semaphore
    4) Use the command as usual

    Windows:
    umbrella -e ecidhere
    umbrella64 -e ecidhere

OS Independent: (Can be run on Mac, Linux or Windows)
    java -jar umbrella.jar -e ecidhere

Note: If you are trying to get your 3.0/3.0.1 blob from Saruik's server make sure to edit your etc/hosts first, and add -v 3.0 or -v 3.0.1 to the command

    e.g. java -jar umbrella.jar -e ecidhere -v 3.0

    Hope this helps.

    Spamdumpster:

I've updated the zip again. I had added xml parsing to the umbrella app but forgot to put the dependency in the MANIFEST.MF... this is why you got that class not found exception.

It's been fixed and the newest download from the blog works on all platforms as it should.

    Thanks for your patience

I am using the version of my hosts file that points at saurik's server, and I get this error HTTP ERROR:411

No that's not the issue. I have cd'd to the location in both snow leopard and windows xp and still the same. I have not edited any host files so it should just be pointing to apples server by default right?

Saurik has my 3.1 ECID SHSH on-file. I currently on fw 3.0.1 and etc/hosts file pointing to saurik's server. Do i need to point to apple (using#saurik's adress)when using umbrella to grasp the blobs or can i also point to saurik?

you're not putting the <>'s on there are you?

  20. #79
    1. Make sure you download the latest version from the blog. I've updated it again today.

    2. As L00i3 mentioned: the <> should NOT be in the command!

    Windows Examples:
    C<DirectoryWhereUmbrellaWasUnzipped>\umbrella -e 00000123123123

Above will grab the 3.1 blobs from apple (if your hosts file doesnt have the gs.apple.com entry)

    C<DirectoryWhereUmbrellaWasUnzipped>\umbrella -e 00000123123123 -v 3.0.1

Above will grab the 3.0.1 blobs from saurik (provided he has them) if you point gs.apple.com to sauriks machine via hosts.

    C<DirectoryWhereUmbrellaWasUnzipped>\umbrella -e 00000123123123 -v 3.0

Above will grab the 3.0 blobs from saurik (provided he has them) if you point gs.apple.com to sauriks machine via hosts.

    Mac/linux Example:

    /MacUser/You/java -jar umbrella.jar -e 00000123123123 -v 3.0

Above will grab the 3.0 blobs from saurik (provided he has them) if you point gs.apple.com to sauriks machine via hosts.

No I am not, I write it just as described: java -jar umbrella.jar myecid or under xp umbrella my ecid. On mac I get umbrella.jar cannot be accessed and windows it just goes to the next line, nothing happens. And yes I have cd'd to the correct location
