Thread: 3.1 SHSH Blob Grabber

  1. #21
xsemaphorex, Thanks for the clarifications. I see now why my request for my 3.0.1 blob doesn't make any sense.

In any event, I'm lucky enough to have my 3.0 blob on Saurik's server and now, thanks to you, I have my 3.1 blob.

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks again for hooking us up, and sticking around to answer questions. I got a couple more for ya.

Well, I got some blobs (Yay me!). Um, I never upgraded my itunes. I am still on 8.2.1.6. Is that gonna matter? Or should I go ahead and upgrade to itunes 9? And if i did upgrade, I wouldn't need to run the tool again right? Or were you just saying that as far as what is known at this point (as itunes 9 just came out) there is no guarantee this will work for any higher versions. Sorry to bug you so much, just trying to make sure I got a decent handle on where I am at so far.

    Hey man!

Don't wanna be a PITA so sorry if I'm being pushy, but there is no source under the src directory, just an empty com dir. You may want to download the zip file you got on megaupload and see for yourself. I did... Twice.

    Thanks!

Just execute cmd line and you'll see how it's worked

Thanks for the app. Got my 3 shsh files saved :-)

    Just 3 questions:

I've entered the ecid and the chipid with and without the preceding 0x and got the exactly same shsh files, so I assume your app is stripping the 0x if present, right?

What is the optional parameter Darwin/Windows good for? Tried with both on Mac and again got identical shsh files.

Someone asked already but I'm interested as well: If I run your app while pointing to Saurik's server, will that make the shsh files to be saved on Saurik's as well? Could be handy just in case your TSS app might not work. ;-)

    Dear Guru,

Please bare with me for a second.

At present, I have an iPhone 3GS wth 3.1.

In the past, it was running on 3.0, and I was able to Jailbreak it. unfortunately, my wife updated the phone to 3.1 firmware.

Now, I am trying to bring it back to 3.0 or 3.01 firmware and I trying all the options are out on google.

Now, I saw this article and wanted to test it out. Thank you for all your hardward. I am sure nothing is easy...

I have iTunes 9.0. When I plug-in the iphone, I see the Serial number and whern I click on it, it will show as identifier(UDID). Is this HEX value is nothing but the ECID???

    Thank you,
    Nikee

Thank you for pointing out that the source wasn't in the folder. I fixed the build script that generates the zip file. I failed a little at ant scripting there. Sorry.

The updated blog has the zip with the src ACTUALLY in there.

Your UDID is not your ECID.

Put your iPhone 3GS into Recovery mode - switch it off, hold down the Home button, and plug the USB cable in. When it shows a picture of the iTunes logo and a USB cable, stop holding down home.

I noticed you are using Windows, so download usbview

    1. Start USBView on your PC
    2. In “options”, check off “config descriptors” (enable)
    3. Hit F5 on your keyboard to refresh
    4. Scroll down til you see “Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB drive, and click on it.
    5. Look for ECID in right navigation pane.
    6. Copy the 16 digits that follow the ECID

That's how you get your ECID, I found my 3GS automatically kicks it's self out of recovery mode if you leave it for 10 minutes or so without restoring anything, you can also hold down the Home Button + Power Button until it reboots to kick it out of recovery mode.

Mac users can simply put the device in Recovery Mode, then open System Profiler.app (In Applications -> Utilities), click USB and select the iPhone from the list, it will show the ECID there.

    Hope this helps.

Can i use them to restore 3.0?
Not currently, as no one has made a tool that actually allows you to use this.

So you're out of luck for now, sorry.

Saurik said very few users have 3.0.1 Blobs, only 3.0. Therefore you will more than likely only ever be able to downgrade to 3.0.

    Hope this helps.

Nope. I've had to compile to 1.5. (Which is typically installed on SL from what some have said. Your best bet would be to recompile it or update java on your computer:

    Developer Resources for Java Technology

Follow the instructions. It's quite painless.

Even when xsemaphorex releases his tss server, you won't be able to reinstall 3.0 or 3.0.1. His tool allowed you to store your 3.1 blob. That means that you always will be able to restore to 3.1, but it will not permit you to load 3.0 or 3.0.1.

Read the readme file. The terminal command is

    java -jar fw-umbrella.jar <ecid> <chipId>

The ReadMe.txt wasn't made for fun by the author. You should try reading it.

    java -jar fw-umbrella.jar ECIDHERE 8920

    e.g. java -jar fw-umbrella.jar 0000000000000000 8920
    Where 0000000000000000 is your ECID.

I did read the readme, but I know nothing in Terminal command

when I type in the command it says Unable to access jarfile fw-umbrella.jar

Do I need to change the dir to the folder first? Just like MS-DOS?

    Edit: I got it...thanks

    1) Extract fw-umbrella-semaphore.zip to your desktop.
    2) Open Terminal.app (Applications -> Utilities)
    3) cd to directory: cd Desktop/fw-umbrella-semaphore
    4) Run command: java -jar fw-umbrella.jar 0000000000000000 8920
    Where 0000000000000000 is your ECID.

    Done.

Guys, is there any way to cache 3.1 files to saurik server without restoration procedure from iTunes and modifing host file until 3.1.1 released?
I have 3.0 properly worked and cannot restore to 3.1 at this time
There is no link something like "make your live easy" in cydia home page for me
    Please help
I didn't cache the 3.0 and want to cache 3.1 with saurik too until 3.1.1 or higher released
    Thanks

i have executed ambrella tool while the host was pointed to saurik server
and got three files with the same info in body as in files i got without changing host requested directly from apple
there is only one difference in the header of xml code
so the question is how to check whether the caching on saurik server is done or not?
    thanks
