  • Apple Sets Q1 Earnings Call for January 23rd

Apple confirmed today that it will raise the curtain on earnings for the first fiscal quarter of 2013 later this month. The big day is scheduled for January 23rd.

Per the usual playbook, the published report will be followed up with a conference call featuring the company's top power players who will likely revel in the opportunity to share the whopper holiday sales statistics that analysts will be guessing about between now and then.

Of course, over the last six quarters Apple has fallen short of expectations on more than one occasion - not a situation observed very often in the last decade. Nonetheless, iDevice and Mac sales were said to be so strong during the holiday sales quarter that it's possible for earnings data to trounce even the most optimistic of Wall Street expectations.

Three months ago, Apple forecast revenue of $52 billion for the holiday quarter that ended December 31st. We'll find out in three weeks just how "off" Apple was to the upside or downside.
