  • Remover: A Cydia Eraser alternative for iOS 9 and 10

Need a way to reset your device to stock? Now you can.

Often times, in the world of jailbreaking, something goes wrong that can only be fixed by restoring your device to stock, either with iTunes or a tool like Cydia Eraser, whether it be a malfunctioning tweak, or a corrupted file, sometimes you just need to start fresh and get hundreds of tweaks of off your device. Most of the time, restoring with iTunes will require you to do a software update, in turn losing your jailbreak until a new one is released. Quite a frustrating experience, especially since there hasn't been a utility like Eraser available for iOS 10 devices, until now.

Created by Pwn20wnd and Coolstar, featuring a UI design and logo by our very own Dennis Bednarz. Remover can restore iOS 9 and iOS 10 jailbroken devices to a stock state with the tap of a button. It is compatible with a few jailbreaks, such as yalu102, extra_recipe, Home Depot, and phoenix.

It uses SemiRestore10-Lite to remove user installed applications and files, and then additional code by pwn20wnd to revert all changes made by the jailbreak. It also removes stashing for stashed devices. There is one caveat however, it is effective at removing user modifications, but not restoring the file system to complete stock, like Saurik's Cydia Eraser utility does by downloading OTA files directly from Apple. So it is effectively a modified version of semirestore. But, if you don't care about that, then Remover is a great tool to effectively wipe your device to a clean slate on your current firmware, no iTunes restores needed.

It is pretty simple to use, with a minimalistic UI to go along with it. Just tap the jailbreak you use, and click the "Unjailbreak" button to let it do its thing. You can get Remover by adding https://pwn20wnd.github.io/repo/eraser/ to your sources and installing from there.

Have you used Remover? Let us know how it worked for you in the comments section below.

In order to download Remover, you’ll need to add the following repository in Cydia: https://pwn20wnd.github.io/repo/eraser/. Once added, you can search for Remover and proceed to installing the app on your iOS device........source Redmondpie.

If you refer to the title of the article, I would say yes, but you can always install Remover from the Cydia source and see if your jailbreak is listed as one of the choices.

If it's not listed, I'd say it's not supported. If it is listed, I'd say it's supported.

Installing the tool in order to find out won't hurt anything. Maybe you can let everyone else know after you try. Good luck!

PS: I think you can use Cydia Eraser beta, by Saurik on iOS 9.3.3, if I'm not mistaken; just make sure you get the proper version, possibly from Saurik's cy-eraser beta repo.

You said you're on iOS 9.3.3, so google "Cydia Eraser beta repo" and you'll find many many articles on other forums as well as /r/jailbreak saying that Cydia Eraser does work for iOS 9.3.3. If your file system is stashed, it will take much much longer (could take days to complete -I've heard of it taking up to 5 days to complete). Google is mighty useful in these situations. Good luck!!

The package depiction of Saurik's Cydia Eraser says it supports iOS 9.3.3 (the regular version available from the stock repo, no beta repo required).

This is correct info! It works on 9.3.3.. but if you are stashed it will take forever to complete and none of us can be without our phones for 3-5 days. So for all practical purposes / if you use Cydia Eraser while stashed - you've lost your jailbreak. So don't use it if you're stashed.. bottom line.

We need no Cydia Eraser Alternative because we have Cydia Eraser. Cydia Eraser ist the beste Restore Tool because it restores iOS to complete stock.

All other tools are superfluous. What the other tools can do this can be done manually. But after using Cydia Eraser iOS is 100% original. Cydia Eraser recognizes changed files and replaces them with the original files. This can not do any other tool.

I have used this Cydia Eraser on my iPhone 7 with iOS 10.1.1. It works perfectly. http://test.saurik.com/kittenboxer/E...1.g4d37796.deb

May be. Can also be that Cydia Eraser needs very long. The same is true when you delete language files. Then Cydia Eraser needs also very long. Up to 5 days.

But I think you can undo stashing. But I do not know how to do that. But you can inform yourself about it. You can ask the Developer from the stashing Tool.

You can't undo stashing .. so don't use Eraser if you're stashed..will lose your JB.

And I know of several people that couldn't make Eraser work on 10.x.x.. Saurik only certifies it up to 9.3.3.

Cydia Eraser works with iOS 10. 100%. I have used it myself on my iPhone 7 with iOS 10.1.1. Here is the Cydia Eraser version that works with iOS 10. Created by saurik. http://test.saurik.com/kittenboxer/E...1.g4d37796.deb

And you can undo stashing. Here is the HowTo if you have used coolstars stashing. https://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/c...fixes/dc4412b/

The Link in coolstars Posting is dead but you can found SemiRestore10-Lite here. https://mobile.twitter.com/coolstaro...95600447766529

Thanks Kaita - I'm just saying I know several people for whom Eraser didn't work on 10. So that's not 100%.. . And yes they were using that version. And the same for reversing stashing.

It's still a "try at your own risk" tool. I will never use it or recommend it.
