  • Saurik Releases Update to Cydia Eraser

The update to Cydia Eraser supports iOS 7.1 through iOS 9.3.3. Cydia Eraser allows you to remove and revert all changes on your jailbroken device and return it to stock Apple iOS software without updating to a newer version of iOS.

Using this tool with erase all of your data. So don't run this unless you want to remove all data from you device and set up as 'new'.

Before running Cydia Eraser we recommend making a backup of your data. After using the tool you will need to re-activate your device. You will need your Apple ID password to get access to your device after it reboots.

This update is a game changer for jailbreakers. Kudos Saurik.

There was a stupid bug with wifi passwords that no matter what you did, it would kept saying your wifi password is incorrect. Nothing short of a full restore will fix this. Even the "semi-restore" didn't work. Too bad I didn't have this tool back then. Would of saved me plenty of headache.

I am not completely understanding why you would need this tweak.

When apple stops signing iOS 9.3.3 and you develop issues with your jailbreak. It will allow you to "restore" your phone to factory setting on iOS 9.3.3. Which will allow you to jailbreak your phone again.

Absolutely necessary tweak. Perfect to start fresh and re-JB 9.3.3....unlesssssss APPLE does the ol Kibosh on the certs. Or until they expire next year....... Hopefully at that point there will be another JB or another set of certs to use.

so i got the black progress bar and then it seems stuck at the apple screen for at least 20 min. Just wait longer or try to physically reboot?

This is useful if your phone software somehow screwed up so bad that nothing short of a restore will fix it. However, since Apple is likely not signing a jailbreakable version of iOS, you can't do a normal restore if you want to jailbreak again.
