  • Siri spotted talking about ‘Finder’ on iOS; hints possible leak

Siri is expected to make a big part of Apple's WWDC June 2016 keynote (alongside iOS 10, macOS 10.12 and watch OS 3) but it seems that Siri may make its way to macOS 10.12 as Brian Roemelle has found that by asking the voice assistant about "Windows" on his phone, Siri has referenced the "Finder" app in its response.

iOS does not have a Finder app but OS X (macOS) does, and it seems as if Siri for Mac has leaked ahead of WWDC or may even feature a brand new Finder app for iOS 10...

However, Siri occasionally answers with "It doesn't look like you have an app named 'Finder' most of the time. Most of the time, it responds as you would expect — simply saying it can’t perform that action or doesn’t understand the question.

The trigger questions doesn't include the phrase 'Finder' as it says above, try it for yourself "Siri open settings in the window", but be patient as the interesting reply happens occasionally. Clearly, something is up with Siri as we have learned in this article to do with 'Finder'.

If the 'Finder' application is for iOS 10 then there is a possibility that a revamped file system for iOS 10 is in play, however, it seems more than likely that this is a leaked Siri for the Mac as OS X currently has a Finder application to search for files.

Alongside Siri for Mac, it seems like a big upgrade in functionality for Siri in general is on the cards. At least with iOS 10, Siri will likely gain an API for developers to integrate third-party apps into the voice assistant, expanding the capabilities of Siri dramatically.

Stay tuned for June 13 for WWDC 2016 as the keynote starts at 10 AM PT on Monday.

Not sure why iOS Siri would be doing OS X replies. She doesn't say tvOS specific stuff. So, i'm also thinking Finder for iOS may be happening.

Wow, file system access! That's a huge step for Apple. That shiz is going to be basic as hell. Images and documents only! But, maybe more in depth for iPad Pro's!

Yes, very basic if it is coming to iOS10.

That’s probably a screen shot from 10.12 on the New Macbook. Tim will describe how they’ve simplified it so as not to confuse customers.
