  • Leaked iPhone 7 Plus Components Hint at 256GB Storage Option

Today leaked components for the iPhone 7 Plus indicate that Apple will be offering the handset with a 256GB storage option. The leaked pictures also show off what is allegedly the dual camera module that the company will be using in the iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple started offering a 256GB variant of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro earlier this year, so it will not be surprising if the company starts offering the upcoming iPhone with the same amount of storage. However, it is unlikely that Apple will offer the storage option for the smaller iPhone 7.

As for the dual camera module, one of the module seems to be optically stabilised, while the other one is not. It has long been rumored that Apple will be switching to a dual camera set up with the iPhone 7 Plus to offer better image quality, especially in low light. We have already seen many Android OEMs release phones with a dual camera set up at the rear, but none of them have managed to offer exceptional camera performance.

The leaked photos also show a 16GB NAND chip, which hints that Apple will continue to offer the base iPhone with 16GB of storage space. The Cupertino company has been consistently criticised for offering the base iPhone with only 16GB of storage space, but it looks like that is not going to stop it from offering the storage option.

The leaked photos were found on Weibo, so their credibility cannot be verified. However, previous rumors and reports have also pointed to the iPhone 7 Plus being offered in a 256GB variant. It is also well known now that the larger iPhone due to be unveiled in September will come with a dual camera set up at the rear.

Oh boy more storage capacity! Just what I always wanted! Who needs more battery capacity when you've got more memory?

I do understand Apple's logic however. Memory upgrade options put big bucks into the corporate coffers. Bigger batteries would drain them. But come on, just how many billions does Apple need to have anyway?

A 256gb option is probably the number one thing that would actually entice me to upgrade from the 6S+. Looking forward to it if true.

      Really???

Have you actually managed to fill up 128GB? That's quite a feat on an iPhone!

Apple used to sell the MacBook Air with 128GB. I can't imagine using more than that on a phone.

P.S. My apologies to Mr. Spencer for duplicating his post.

No, but I come close enough that I have to worry when I shoot video if I'm gonna hit my limit. I don't even store much music on my phone! A select few albums. Pictures and videos take up quite a bit, especially after the upgrade to 4K. That in itself kinda necessitates this kinda move up in capacity for the power users.

256gb would give me room to keep a few more favorite albums handy and a lot of wiggleroom for new video without having to permanently delete things from my camera roll.

I think 256GB is unnecessary on an iPhone. Apple should consider improving the front and rear camera, battery life, prolong iOS firmware support & allow custom UI.

Have I ever come close to using up all of my 128gb? No. Do I still want 256gb? Yup. Lol.

I would like 2 speakers on my iPhone. I have 64GB on my iPhone 6+, which isn't enough. And don't get close to using all of my 128GB on my iPad mini 3. I would take the 256GB on my iPhone so I could get most of my music on it.

EDIT: As for the headphone jack, I don't need it now. I have started upgrading my headphones to Bluetooth.
