  • Analyst Says iPhone 7 Plus will Feature 3GB of RAM and Dual-Camera System
An analyst today has come out today and have talked about the iPhone 7 Plus and that it will feature 3GB of RAM and Dual-Camera System.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, that expectation is right on the money. Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple has plans to go all-in with a dual-camera system for the iPhone 7 Plus, which will still feature the 5.5-inch display as seen in previous Plus iPhone models. Kuo spectates that Apple’s decision to fully adopt the dual-camera system on its 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus comes in line with the Android market adopting the technology, especially from manufacturers like Huawei — which launched the P9 with a dual-camera system not too long ago. Kuo believes other high-end phone manufacturers will adopt a dual-camera system in the future as well:

“Dual-camera to become a must-have feature for high-end smartphone. The initial market response to Huawei’s (CN) new flagship dual-camera model, P9, has been better than expected, and we estimate shipments may reach 10mn units in 2016F. In our view, more high-end smartphones will adopt this feature going forward. And, in order to maintain its leading position in the high-end market, we expect Apple will fully adopt dual-camera on the new 5.5-inch iPhone in 2H16.”

Kuo now believes that Apple will also include 3GB of RAM in the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus lineup. Previous rumors had suggested the iPhone 7 Plus would only boast 2GB of RAM.

This analyst report seems to line up with previously leaked blueprints for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which also indicate that Apple is including a dual-camera system on the larger model — along with a Smart Connector.

Kuo had previously said that he believed Apple would launch more than one 5.5-inch iPhone model in 2016, with a high-end unit (which has previously been rumored to be called the iPhone 7 Pro) being the only one to feature the dual-camera system. However, that has apparently changed, and we could see only one 5.5-inch iPhone this year after all.

All of the current generation iPhones including the SE have 2 GB, so I would very much doubt the idea of any future iPhone having 1 GB.

Can someone please tell me WHY a dual camera is so awesome or whatever? It's obviously not going to be used for 3D....so I'm dying to know what the point would be...

The only difference I know of, is that a dual camera system takes wider photos/pictures. If you take a pic with your phone now, you will notice the image is cutoff with black boarders on each side, this won't happen with dual.

From my understanding, it allows for optical zoom without any moving parts and being able to retain more detail while zooming. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I think you're right... They're not the same exact lenses. I believe one is more telephoto (i.e. Zoom) and one is a wider angle lens. Together they allow the flexibility of shooting high detail up close and getting nice shots from far away without the dreaded "digital zoom" that simply sacrifices quality.
