  • Apple Employee Reveals iOS 10 to Come with Standalone ‘HomeKit’ App

Today, an Apple Employee who works in the marketing department of the company has revealed in a review on Amazon that iOS 10 will come with a standalone "HomeKit" app.

Apple has been reportedly been working on a HomeKit app for iOS for a long time but plans have been delayed.

As I work in marketing for Apple, we test many Smart Home devices, especially for iOS HomeKit integration. […]

Some advice, there are many third party applications, most free, that offer more control and customization(s) with many Smart Home devices. “Yonomi” is a free app that I often use, “Home” is another which cost $14.99. Both offer support for many devices with more added daily (including Amazon “Echo”). The next version of iOS due this fall will have a standalone “HomeKit” app as well.
Many users believer that Apple would include a "Home" app in iOS 9 which would allow a user to set up virtual rooms in the "Home" application to control their HomeKit devices. The reported detailed that Apple will also be adding Siri integration to it that will make it possible to control HomeKit devices right from Siri.

Hopefully Apple will let us hide stock apps in iOS 10 since I definitely DO NOT USE HomeKit.

BFD Is that the best we can expect from iOS X. I hope it gets a JB if that is the biggest improvement.

What are you seeing that he's saying? He said he wants to hide stock apps. The reply explained how to do exactly that. Not sure what your stability sidetrack is about.

I use HomeKit daily - I currently use an App called "Home" from the App Store which is great for my smart home features (Ecobee, lutron, hue, keen, idevices, Alexa).

Hide stock apps just regularly and all or any of them. The restrictions isn't intended for what he wants. It only shows a few apps and not all of them.

Exactly it's not that bad of a nuisance. What the nuisance normally is when the maker of the phone has stock apps and then the carrier has stock apps so you have double applications that you can't get rid of I think.
