  • YouTube reportedly planning 'Unplugged' live TV as soon as 2017

Google's own, Youtube is planning to launch a new "LIVE TV" subscription service called "Unplugged", which was reported on Wednesday.

According to Bloomberg, Youtube is currently working a new subscription service called "Unplugged," and it's standalone billed TV service. Youtube has reportedly built the infrastructure needed to rollout the TV channels.

Reports say that YouTube has been in talks with major media corporations, like CBS, NBCUniversal, Fox, Viacom, and others, to secure packaged deals.

YouTube is also apparently considering launching packages for “less-watched” bundles, which would allow subscribers to pay just a bit more than the standard bundle pricing to get access to these channels individually, or in smaller packages:

“YouTube has also discussed offering a collection of less-watched TV channels and creating smaller groups of channels around themes. A YouTube Unplugged comedy bundle might include three or four TV channels such as Comedy Central, while a lifestyle bundle might include the Style Network.

YouTube would charge one subscription for the main bundle, and extra, smaller monthly fees for these theme-based groups, one of the people said.”
