  • Apple says the average iPhone user unlocks device 80 times per day, 89% use Touch ID
Information from Apple's conference call on encryption last Friday is still surfacing, an interesting statistic that reveals an average iPhone user unlocks their device more than 80 times per day and that 89% use the Touch ID feature of their iDevice.

Apple said 89 percent of customers with Touch ID-enabled iPhones and iPads set up and used the fingerprint recognizing feature to unlock their device.

Head of primary research,Ben Bajarin, at industry analyst Creative Strategies, who in a post to Techpinions said "Apple executives revealed the figure during a deep-dive into iOS device security".

I always wandered how they arrive at these statistics?
Are our iPhones secretly recording and sending this user data to Apple somehow?

The fact this is even a statistic makes me feel vulnerable to everything

This info likely is sent only when Send Diagnostic and Usage Data is turned on, which is unlikely if you're paranoid about this stat.

Iíve always turned that off since that greenpoison tool came out years ago. Not that Iíve used the tool in ages.

Touch ID is one of the best convenience features Apple added. I love being able to pull my phone out of my pocket and unlock simultaneously. But I would be a little disgusted with myself if I'm using my phone that much daily. Maybe using a passcode would keep me from looking at my phone for useless things and help me focus on more important things.

I wonder if there is an app that can track my phone usage and how much I unlock it during the day so I could do a week with Touch ID and a week with passcode to test the idea.

LOL, if that makes you feel uneasy and vulnerable, here's a few things you better stop using immediately:

      Social networks
      Email
      Search engines
      Web browsers
Any mobile device with internet connectivity.

      Have a nice life!!
