  • iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro now available for pre-order

As previously announced, Apple on Thursday activated online preorder sales for its new 4-inch iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro in 13 territories, including key markets in North America, Europe and Asia.

Sales went live on Apple.com and through the Apple Store app at about 12:01 a.m. Pacific, 3:01 a.m. Eastern, with initial supply for both products seemingly keeping pace with demand. Apple announced the iPhone SE and new iPad Pro form factor at a special event on Monday.

For today's launch, Apple is opening orders up to 13 regions around the world before the devices land in stores on March 31. Rollout territories include Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the U.S. In China, initial iPad Pro availability is limited to models with Wi-Fi only, though cellular versions are expected to ship in the near future.

Apple plans to expand iPhone SE and iPad Pro sales in April to cover another 47 countries including Albania, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Cayman Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Guam, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Macau, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey and UAE. Customers in Macau and Thailand will be limited to Wi-Fi iPad Pro models.

As for specs, the iPhone SE borrows much of its technology from Apple's flagship iPhone 6s series. The diminutive iPhone runs a speedy A9 processor with embedded M9 motion coprocessor and sports a 12-megapixel iSight camera, Touch ID and NFC for touchless Apple Pay transactions, advanced wireless communications hardware and more.

Pricing starts at just $399 for 16 gigabytes of onboard storage, or $499 for 64GB. Buyers can select from silver, Space Gray, gold and rose gold chassis colors.

Apple's new 9.7-inch iPad Pro brings the full-size form factor in line with last year's 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The refreshed tablet now boasts specialized hardware supporting Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard accessories, while adding on new-for-iPad features like a 12MP iSight camera with flash and Apple's True Tone display.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro comes in at $599 for a 32GB Wi-Fi only version, $749 for 128GB of storage and $899 for the new 256GB option. Step-up Wi-Fi + Cellular variants are priced at $729, $879 and $1029 for 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage capacities, respectively. Customers can choose from silver, Space Gray, gold and rose gold colors.

Most likely because it's in the pre-ordering stages. Apple may implement this though?

The mistake Apple keeps making is 16gb, the new IOS takes up a lot of room and whats left is not enough for Pics, vids and apps.

I really wish apple would spend the 90 cents more and have 32gb starting models and stop making 16gb models

Especially with a 4k camera. Thatís like 2 apps and 20 minutes of video.

16gb is for people who want a quality phone but don't listen to thousands of songs and do 4K video.

I keep seeing this posted, my 73 year old father wants an Iphone but he said 16gb is stupid, look 99% of people will take at least pictures with their phone and with IOS and 16gb in no time they will run out of room. To say 1% of phone buyers is a market, well need I say more? I'm a grandfather myself and I need at least 64gb for apps and other storage, pics, my apps and pics take up 20gb at the moment

16 gig is fine for me. All my music and photos are on the cloud. So why should I have to pay an extra 100 bucks for space that I would never use? 🤔

90 cents times 50 million phones isn't as cheap as you make it out to be, and it is a base model of a budget phone. I think some budget androids still come with 8GB and the first chrome computers were 8GB

I understand but even Apple's "budget phone" is about 300 USD more than a low cost 8gb android phone which retails under $99 without contracts most cases. I'm just saying "your building a Porsche with a Volkswagen engine" by not giving the user adequate memory, Iphones are not expandable unlike many androids.

Apple should give you a better value for your money,
A little over a year ago or so my Iphone 6 was 900 usd with 128gb memory, its paid for in whole, Apple would "give me" 300 for it and if lucky I could get 500 for it on ebay (which is only net profit of 420)

Some of us cannot afford to splurge on a new phone every 12 or 18 months, I'm waiting for 7 or 7s now

We should make a petition for Apple to stop making 16g iPhones. It's a waste of money for anyone to get 16g phones especially an iPhone. Apple just likes money!!!! Put everything in the cloud and save everyone money!!! Idiots

A petition? Really? Just don't buy their phones then.

I don't get beat over the head. I do 2 year contract and get the 64gb for $299 and then buy the new phone and sell my old phone for $500.
