  • Rumored iPhone 7 pictures show redesigned antenna lines, new larger camera

Following case leaks for Apple’s next-generation iPhone models last week, expected to debut in fall, an image purports to show technical drawings for the iPhone 7 chassis (via NowhereElse.fr).

It’s worth noting that the horizontal antenna lines on the back of the phone are gone completely. However there are lines are still along the bottom edge of the device, represented by the lighter line following the curve of the body, but the main straight antenna lines seen on iPhone 6s are not present in these drawings. Looking closely, the images also suggest that the camera has changed for the iPhone 7 …

The camera hole is significantly larger than current phones, indicating an upgrade of some kind. The opening also sits closer to the edge of the phone; the rear camera on current iPhones is more inset into the frame.

People may be disappointed at the apparent lack of a dual-camera system as has been previously rumored, but this image shows a 4.7 inch iPhone 7. Rumors have indicated that a dual-camera system will be reserved for the larger 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus, potentially exclusive to a variant called ‘iPhone 7 Pro’. Regarding the headphone jack, or lack thereof, this leak is not that helpful. The bottom side of the phone is not explicitly visible, although an opening cannot be seen from the inside of the chassis.

Following this article’s publication, a reader has Photoshopped some mockup images based off of the leak via Twitter, to give an idea at what the final result will look like if this iPhone 7 rumor turns out to be true. The mockup shows how the antenna redesign leads to a more appealing, minimalist appearance for the back side of the iPhone 7:

According to the source of the leak, the phone chassis is also marginally thinner by comparison to current units, even if that dimension is not visible in the leaked images. These images are obviously skeptical and are still rumors.

However, it is important to remember that very similar shots surfaced this time two years ago, ultimately accurately predicting the design of the then-unreleased iPhone 6. This gives the photos some kind of track record and provenance. In addition, there have already been corroborating rumors about the antenna lines change. Nevertheless, the iPhone designs appear in renders on old Windows PCs which we find quite amusing.

This morning, NowhereElse also claimed to have found pictures of the iPhone 7 Plus dual-camera component. However, this image actually originates to a blog post from January and there is no ‘smoking gun’ connection between the component and an Apple product. It is likely the component is destined for another manufacturers’ products.

Although much of the iPhone 7 remains unknown as mere rumors, what is known for sure is that Apple will be holding a media event on the 21st March. We expect a new 4-inch iPhone SE to debut, as well as a new 9.7 inch iPad Pro and more. Read our full roundup here and stay tuned to 9to5Mac for full coverage of the announcements.

Nothing too exciting to look at yet. I doubt that Apple can come up with anything that can be that much different from the current line. I'd like to see AMOLED display, customizable home screen ( at least let us put our icons wherever we want), widgets, themes. I feel jailbreak is going away in the near future so minimal customization is harmless.

Don't fix what ain't broken. Apple doesn't need 4gb of ram in a phone and a huge new snapdragon or anything like that. They optimize and run efficiently. You don't need a 16mp camera. It's the lenses inside that matter which they've been upgrading. Either your trolling or you simply want a Samsung phone.

I don’t need a 225hp engine but I have one. I don’t need four doors but I have them. The device won’t run any worse and needn't actually cost any more but will very likely run better.
What do you have in your life that is more than you need but welcome? Probably everything. That avatar for a start would indicate as such….?

I don't need more megapixels, but can we have a much wider aperture please???
I feel we can have better than f/2.2. I'll take f/1.8 or better. If we could get something like f/1.2, i'd much prefer that than more megapixels.

"Don't fix what ain't broken" lmao, spoken like a true fanboi!

I love how people get called "trolls" or "you simply want a Samsung phone" just because they expect crapple to catch up to the rest of the world. After all, it's not like crapple products are over priced or anything. This is why crapple still hasn't moved from the 16GB base model because they know dumb dumb fanboi's will continue to pay their ridiculously inflated prices for the same crap year after year. This is exactly why when crapple has a board meeting about what new devices will consist of they only last 15 minutes, because it doesn't take that long to load an image of last years model into photoshop and resize it!

I can't wait till the iPhone 8 comes out, I'm sure it will have an updated SIM card tray made of super duper carbon infused steel with a roller bearing chassis that way when I take my SIM card out once a year it will come out so smooth and drop into my hand making it feel like I'm sitting on the beach drinking margaritas!

Why don't you go tell all the other members that who feel the same way! It's no wonder this site has fallen so low in the ranks on Alexa over the last couple years

Besides, shouldn't you been off double posting threads in the news section some more? You must be running that new iOS 9.3 beta right?

LOL, strictly speaking bbrks, I didn't call any names. I asked Jony if he was of a certain disposition. Your asterisks make it look like I used a rude word when in fact I didn’t. I’d go so far as to say that when a reader sees it, the first thing he/she thinks is that some profanity has been blocked out when the word in question was not and was actually orders of magnitude less offensive.

You could arguably say you made the statement worse but that is your prerogative.

      Anyhow, to the above tete a tete beween DekuTree and Caiden Spencer, Deku may have been a little more friendly in his post but there are a lot of people that come here because they own and enjoy Apple products, (myself for example). I have invested in them, (significantly), and would suggest that I therefore have a right to hold them to account/pass comment;
If I make a remark about how they price gouge customers it doesn't make me a troll.
If I make a remark about how they talk rubbish sometimes it doesn't make me a troll.
If I make a remark about how they do anything else that is anti consumer it doesn't make me a troll.
But if you blindly defend their bad ways even when shown evidence to back it up, a FanBoy is what you certainly are.

And that's exactly what I was saying. The rest of you explain exactly what you want in a phone and Samsung has all of that but Apple doesn't. So.....there you go. What else do you guys expect?

Behind in what exactly? And please don't give me a bunch of specs because you know specs don't really matter unless they are running the exact same OS and software.

Problem is, most of them don't understand the simple concept of optimization. Stupid consumers love to see just the numbers. If X > Y, then product with X must be better. Smart consumers look at the tech behind the numbers.

How important is optimization? Yesterday, I downloaded a 2160p x265 4k show and tried to play it with MPC-HC in my laptop. My CPU topped out at fast moving scenes and the video was playing about 5-10 FPS. Sound went out of sync. Not watchable. Sure, If I had a 3 x as powerful CPU, I would likely be able to play it smoothly. However, I download a new version of MPC-HC optimized to play back x265 4k content and guess what, the same exact video took only 50% CPU at most and played the whole thing smoothly. Sound never went out of sync. This is the power of optimization.

Wow. Can you be more of a geek? Smart consumers look at usability, ease of operations. How will this device help me to be more productive and my life easier on the go. Not everyone gives a crap about specs and the numbers. Some do. Jesus Christ your comment just boring as hell.

All my posts are written from the computer. I cannot do anything as far as the double posts. If I want to make a post it'll auto double post because I'm adding it to the news section also. Bummer.

And yet, it entertained you enough to actually read and reply. Name calling right off the bat doesn't make you or your comment more "smarter" by the way. It does the opposite and shows your immaturity. And what's wrong with geeks? Geeks are the ones that likely help made all that tech you're using.

As for your comment, the "tech behind the numbers" includes what you described. But we're comparing phones here, and there isn't much difference in the form of "hardware usability" from one top tier phone to the next. You're literally grasping straws with that argument.

Anyway, I don't see a point in "arguing" with you since you clearly don't see my point, and of course, I'm boring as hell.
