  • [iOS GLITCH] Disable iOS SpringBoard animations and make your Home screen feel faster

Today, 9to5Mac has reported a glitch which will help disable iOS Springboard animations and make your home screen feel faster.

How to do disable animations without jailbreaking

Step 1: Open Settings - General - Accessibility - Assistive Touch and enable the Assistive Touch switch.

Step 2: Go to the Home screen and drag the Assistive Touch nub to the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

Step 3: Invoke Spotlight search by swiping down on the Home screen. When the Assistive Touch nub rests above the keyboard, tap the screen to dismiss Spotlight. If you time Spotlight to dismiss as soon as the nub goes above the keyboard, you’ll notice Spotlight’s interface speed up, indicating that the glitch is now active.

Step 4: Try launching any app to see if the animations are gone. If not, repeat Step 3 until it works. Some suggest that you should try ~20 times, but I was able to make it work almost immediately.

Step 5: Disable the Assistive Touch switch enabled in Step 1.

    Turn on AssistiveTouch.
Go to home screen. Drag the white AssistiveTouch dot to bottom right corner.
    Pull down spotlight.
Pull back up to dismiss Spotlight.
Repeat step 3-4 for 20 times (exact number of times varies a little from device to device).
Enjoy a system with no SpringBoard animation.
Works with all iOS 9 devices. On iPad or iPhone 6 Plus, you can alternatively rotate the screen repetitively. The key is to make AssistiveTouch animate over and over against the keyboard, so that SpringBoard's animation engine gets confused.

[Note: Conflicts with multitasking gestures on iPad. Turn off multitasking gestures to resolve the issue.]
Tip from /u/cn98: "For those that have still not gotten it to work... Start off with the assistive touch button in the right hand lower corner of the screen. Every time you slide down in spotlight search make sure you wait for the assistive touch button to move on top of the keyboard and continuously repeat steps 3 and 4".
The animations of course will be disabled until you reboot your iPhone. In the video above Jeff Benjamin from 9to5mac used an iPhone 6s running iOS 9.3b6. It also tested it on an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9.0.2, an iPhone 5s running iOS 9.2, and an iPad Pro running iOS 9.3b6.

Be sure to watch their video walkthrough above for a full step-by-step tutorial on disabling SpringBoard animations without jailbreaking.

Love it! Works on latest 9.3 beta, hope they don't fix it.

Also found that when locking your device after this glitch is enabled, the lock screen flickers on the screen.
      Anybody else found this?

This worked for me wonderfully. I didn't think it would offer anything worth getting excited about until I tried Google app. It always annoyed me that there was a lag before there app opened, especially for as much as I relied on it, and now it's lightning quick just...... Almost instant launch. Thanks for this.
