  • Facebook app to Safari can boost iPhone battery life by up to 15%
    .
A report claimed on Monday says its main iOS app is still a drain on the iPhone's daily battery life even though Facebook has reportedly been trying to update and maintain its power usage concerns in previous updates. The report also claims that uninstalling Facebook and using the Safari's version of Facebook can save you 15% of your battery.

Facebook is one of the most downloaded apps on iOS but it has long been cited as a cause of fast-draining iPhone batteries.

Last year Facebook was accused of using background tricks to stay active even when it wasn’t being used. Facebook admitted bugs existed, and fixed them, but questions of the app’s impact on battery life remained.

It was discovered by that source that uninstalling Facebook’s iOS app and switching to Safari can save up to 15% of iPhone battery life.

Will you make the switch to Safari's version to save 15% of your battery life?

That's funny when I check settings->battery it shows Facebook only uses 5% of my battery life. Phone was worth 27% of my battery life however...I could really save battery life by not using my iPhone as a phone!!!!!!

Never heard of tricks to stay active. I'm not sure what they would get from that, but maybe I'll go with the web version for a while just in case. I 100% refuse to use their messaging app or any others.

Facebook++ in Cydia lets you use messenger within the Facebook app like you used to be able to, but I think you have to have an older version

Personally I just use the app a few times a day and kill it immediately to save battery. Otherwise there's more background usage time than foreground!

You could just simply turn off Automatic Background Refresh.

I thought so too, but it turns out Facebook uses the background audio function to bypass it and run anyway.
