  • Untethered Jailbreak of iOS 9.2, 9.2.1, 9.3 Beta Demonstrated & Teased
    .

Luca Todesco has posted a video demonstrating his jailbreak of iOS 9.2, 9.2.1 and 9.3 beta on his twitter account today.

The video below demonstrates that Luca Tedesco has jailbroken his iPhone, last month, Luca Todesco revealed he had jailbreak by posting a screenshot of Cydia running on iOS 9.2.1 on his iPhone 6. Now Luca Tedesco tells Twitter that he has the untether working better than before.

    Luca Tedesco mentions:
Finally got Untether working somewhat decently
No word yet on whether Todesco plans on releasing the jailbreak; however, if it does get released publicly, it would likely be after iOS 9.3 is finalized. iOS 9.3 brings numerous new features including: Night Shift, secure Notes, more personalized News, an improved Health app, updates to CarPlay, and new Education features.

Take a look at the video below.

Very exciting! When will 9.3 drop? Would be fantastic to see a JB for a 9.3GM come March.

Pretty sure todesco said he would not release his JB, so this seems a dead end. Maybe somebody will figure it out.

Why when they rebooted, did the settings app STILL open to accessories? Wouldn't it go back to the main "settings" screen? Doesn't the "last screen" cache clear out of memory on a reboot?

Sorry if "last screen" cache isn't the correct terminology, I assume someone will get what I mean.

That wouldnt make sense. Wouldnt he want to release it so app will be updated? Be kindof boring have a jailbreak that nothing supports

My understanding is that Luca has made available, an open source arm64 kernel dump tool, which should make it easier for interested parties/developers (Taig/Pangu etc) to find kernel exploits in iOS. I'm hopeful...

I lost my JB a few months back and it's been hell without it! I really hope someone or a group comes out with a new JB soon.

He's just another attention whore that doesn't like to share, but yet shows off to say "Haha look what I did and have that you can't have or do"!

As others say on here, MOVE ON there's nothing to see here.

This guy Luca Tedesco is worthless.

I don't like talking down about people. I'm sure he's very talented as he has demonstrated, but I don't think it's right to boast about having a jailbreak and have no intention of releasing it.

Didnít he say at one point that he doesnít want to handle a public release but that heís sharing his exploits with Pangu/TaiG?

I canít find anything supporting the claim that heís sharing with other jailbreakers, but this article is interesting.

      Iíll quote the important part.

Ok, so if iOS 9.2 and 9.3 are so difficult to jailbreak how has Luca managed to do it, and why isnít he releasing it? Is he faking? First off, he is not a faker. Todesco has reported numerous bugs to Apple and is regularly cited on its security briefs. He also played an integral role in the release of the most recent jailbreak. The iOS 9.2 and 9.3 jailbreaks heís shown are real. Will either of them release as is? No.

      WHY????

The answer comes down to responsibility. Todesco is first and foremost a security researcher. His interest is in finding bugs and helping the companies he reports bugs to (namely Apple) make their systems more secure for users.

Creating jailbreaks involves finding and piecing together bugs or problems in Appleís system so you can break the rules that the company has put in place for the device. Thatís fun of course, but it does make your device less secure.

Jailbreak developers have traditionally created jailbreaks that require physical access to the device and user interaction. But what if you have a bug that allows remote access to a device? Or what if the bugs are easily exploitable by bad guys?

If jailbreak developers donít think carefully about the bugs they are releasing in their jailbreaks, then they may potentially put their users at extreme risk for getting hacked remotely or other nasty things.

At this point, Todesco has decided his research is not fit for public consumption.
