  • Apple Profits $18.4 Billion for the first quarter of 2016

Today, Apple announced financial results for the first quarter of 2016, which also corresponds to the fourth calendar quarter of 2015. Apple posted revenue of $75.9 billion and net quarterly profit of $18.4 billion. Gross margin was 40.1 percent compared to 39.9 percent a year ago. Both revenue and profits were Apple's company records.

Apple has sold a record 74.8 million iPhones during the quarter, which has increased slightly from 74.5 million a year earlier.

“Our team delivered Apple’s biggest quarter ever, thanks to the world’s most innovative products and all-time record sales of iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple TV,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The growth of our Services business accelerated during the quarter to produce record results, and our installed base recently crossed a major milestone of one billion active devices.”

I've always wondered the same thing.... But with such a polarizing company as Apple(people either hate em or Love em) I guess if they were fudging he #s, the haters would have unearthed it by now.... Because I mean in a tech company 40%GM IS GREAT especially where portable telcom is one of the primary revenue streams....Its forever been no secret that the profit comes from the services etc. and not the devices so to post such a good profit is amazing & with so many real options out there.

When you have people like me who spend 2000 on two apple watches no wonder they're killing it... Also bought the new apple tv and I almost gave them another 2000 for two new 6s Plus last year but decided to hold out till the 7 this year... Glad I didn't drop 4 G's on apple products last year...

I don't understand why Android fanboys think that Apple owners are getting ripped off. If you compare a similar top-of-line device, iPhone 6s 64Gb is $749. A Galaxy S6 Edge 64Gb is $814. So how are we getting ripped off?

I'll never understand why Android people troll Apple sites so they can ridicule Apple people. I mean, I wouldn't think of trolling an Android site or a Windows site. Why bother? What's the point? I don't give a [email protected] about Android or what Android Trolls think.

      You are getting ripped off..
Not to mention you can change the battery in most androids. Apple don't this for a reason. $$$$

Good grief. Are you for real? Hmm... Galaxy S6 abandoned the microSD slot and removable battery. So you can't really use this as your defense. I personally think the Galaxy line of hardware is really nice. I just prefer iOS over Android. I don't knock anyone for liking Android. They are both very good mobile OS. It's all user preferences.

I'm not specifically narrowing down what androids can or can't replace battery. My opinion is stock iOS vs android is a rip off. Lots of money in my zone of life don't come easy and this is where my views are sliced.

Better bang for a buck 😃

Both OS are good, like the other guy said.. Depends on your taste. Both Samsung and Apple devices are expensive for the price they put them together.

Several years ago, when I had had enough of my cell phones crashing and giving me grief, I searched online for the most reliable one. Know what I discovered? Every reviewer said Android phones have this, that, and the other latest feature. But, if want I wanted was reliability and ease of use, buy an iPhone. After touting all the wonders of Android, every reviewer said the same thing. Sometimes grudgingly, but they said it.

Obviously this site is about jailbroken iPhones; hence the title MOD MY I! In my experience, Apple products seem to attract some of the most knowledgeable and talented software folks in the industry. They also attract some of the most novice of users, but that's another story.

Over the past several years, I've convinced several friends to swap their Androids for iPhones. Whenever a friend complains about crashing, confusing software, and bugs in general, I suggest trying an iPhone. All of them thanked me afterward, and none have gone back to Android.

Some Android phones tout their "superior" technical specks. I learned a long time ago that going for the most MHz, GHz, MB, GB, PPI, DPI, and megapixels was a losing approach to selecting a product. Since then I've looked mainly for reliability and ease of use. Apple is not perfect by a long shot. Their stuff is some of the most expensive out there. But they also make some of the best stuff out there. This is my own personal opinion after repairing countless computers and many cell phones. It seems whenever I begin to grumble about Apple stuff, someone comes to me for help with their broken PC or cell phone. This always reminds me that Apple makes superior products. Not perfect, but they beat the hell out of the competition. (IMHO, that is.)

Good points here. I agree IOS is more reliable and easier to use. If I can't modify things or get a custom look it's just another IOS device.

I've never been there either, but I'll bet they do. iOS people are no better or worse than Android people. It takes all kinds!

I'm sure it happens, and I can't tolerate their behavior either. Bunch of trolls.
