  • Apple releases iOS 9.2.1 to the public

Apple just released iOS 9.2.1 today to the public. As we already knew from the betas there isn't a whole lot that has changed in this version. Mostly bug fixes and security improvements. New features should be coming soon with iOS 9.3 which was just released to developers and public beta testers last week. As usual stay very far away if you are jailbroken and want to remain that way.

If we don't see a jailbreak a couple weeks after 9.3 I'm giving up hope. I'm stuck on 9.0 with no desire to upgrade but 9.3 brings some things I'd like.

P.S. So glad to see a new article. I felt so empty without ModMyi

right there with you man.. Still on iOS 8. I'm starting to give up hope on Apple completely. With products not changing much anymore and the SOS. Maybe I need a change. Maybe I should chill before making radical changes LOL.

Wouldn't say no to a 9.2.1 JB that's also likely to work on 9.3 beta.

I actually thought we would go straight to 9.3 from 9.2 after seeing the 9.3 beta drop early last week.

Well isn't that YOUR fault for not updating to 9.x.x while it was still jailbreakable?? Sucks to be you.

Doesn't really suck to be me. However, I didn't want 9.x.x because my phone was working just fine when the window was available. I heard numerous problems at the beginning so I held off. Not until recently my phone acted up. So, in sum, I had a good reason of why not to jb in the window and had no desire to until my phone started acting up.

Why not run Cydia Impactor and restore your phone to a pre-jailbroken state?

iOS 9.x.x has been stable for a long time now, and it DOES suck to be you. You just said your phone is acting up. Should have updated and jailbroken while you could.

I was gonna recommend that too before I forgot about it. restore phone and rejailbreak with appropriate tool.

Without jailbreaks Apple sales would fall because their iOS is crap by itself

LOL, you're delusional. Jailbreakers make but a small fraction of iOS users.

Well since less than 8% of iPhones are jailbroken I'm sure Apple would survive. Actually at the rate Apple keeps stealing JB tweaks, by the iPhone X (oh you know that's what they'll call it) there will be little left jailbreak for.

True...but that "little" I'm sure would be themes!... I don't do it anymore but many do... If only Apple would allow that by default.. Let the individual decide if they want to change how things look.. Put themes in App Store.. I know people would buy them!..

I am about to ditch my jailbreak on 9.0.2. It's been an unstable clusterf*ck. Super laggy, freezing, respringing. But I also had read that people on stock 9.0.2 complained about poor performance. iOS 9.2.1 here I come.

I can promise you there won't be a jailbreak before Apple stops signing this version

That's what I did a couple of days ago. I couldn't take these issues so I said screw it. Hopefully there's a jail real soon.

Without jailbreak devs their innovation on iOS would suffer though... so many of the features iOS brings with their releases are directly ripoffs of jailbreak tweaks.

As for android copying apple ... I dunno about that, perhaps samsung and some of the hardware developers.. but Android has been first out of the gate on a huge number of features on the software level that iOS adopted sometimes 2-3 years later

Apple's overall innovation hasn't been that impressive for quite some time in my own personal, allowed to have, opinion

Apple's first phone didn't even support MMS messages when phones before it could do that for years.. and they said it was a hardware limitation! When they introduced it on their later phones but not for the original because of that "hardware" limitation, it was jailbreak devs that went in and found it just needed enabled and set up in some plist files..

First phone with fingerprint scanning? Mototola Atrix
Gestures - Blackberry was way ahead of Apple there
Multitasking - Windows was way ahead of even Android, Android did it .. then iOS adopted it.
Split screen multitasking - Android did that before iOS
Picture in Picture - Android beat apple
Low power mode - Android had it first
      Keyboard shortcuts - Yep, android.
Apple Maps - This is a nobrainer, iOS used to use Google's implementation

The list goes on and on... I've never had an android but the co-wokers use it so I've played with several of them.. I'm an apple fan just because I've never had the hardware die on me ..

There are features Apple's phone lacks that I wish they would adopt... a memory expansion slot ( microsd would be fine ) ... replaceable battery.. their battery case looks horrible and has much less capacity than it's competitors while costing a lot more.
