  • Apple May Begin Streaming Thursday NFL Games

According to a new report from Sports Business Daily, Apple may be among those in line to begin streaming live NFL games on Thursday.

Based on what we're hearing, the NFL has made it clear to the TV networks that it is ready to entertain offers for the “Thursday Night Football” package. A two year deal is once again on the table.

The league last week sent formal RFPs to the usual TV partners and outlets -- CBS, ESPN, Fox, NBC and Turner -- that outlined the NFL’s plan to sell a one-year deal with a league option for a second year.
But there's more on the table this time. We're told that the NFL also provided RFPs to several digital companies -- Google, Yahoo, Apple, Amazon, etc. -- to explore options to stream the entire Thursday night schedule on a non-exclusive basis.

As of this writing, we have no clarity on whether or not Apple is interested. But such a deal could dramatically widen the net with which Apple is using to rope in cord-cutters for its Apple TV platform.
