  • Firefox Releases Focus, A New Content Blocker for Mobile Safari Focused on Performance

The team behind the mobile Firefox application for the iOS platform that was recently released has just released a new content blocker for Mobile Safari on Tuesday called Focus by Firefox. The new content blocker appears to be able to enhance Web browsing performance by limiting certain content and even limiting tracking.

Essentially, the team is trying to gain traction by using the fact that some content blockers are using money as an excuse to allow some ads through their blocking systems as "unobtrusive" ads, and what Focus aims to do is be a completely transparent ad-blocker that lets users know what they're really getting instead of a dud that sometimes lets certain things through on purpose.

The project is open source and backed by Mozilla, a trusted company for getting things out into the hands of people for free and keeping them open source for the better good of those that like tinkering.

Unfortunately, due to limitations of Apple's App Store terms and conditions, Focus can only be used in Mobile Safari and is not compatible with Mozilla's new Firefox Web browser on iOS. If you're still interested in checking out Focus, you can download it free of cost from this App Store link.
