  • Facebook Pulls Slingshot, Rooms, and Riff From the iOS App Store

Facebook on Monday made some changes to its application offerings in the iOS App Store following Dropbox's decision to end support for its Mailbox and Carousel apps on the iOS platform.

Facebook's ended support is for applications created under the alias Creative Labs and includes the following applications: Slingshot, Riff, and Rooms. In order, they allows users to send Snapchat-like temporary photos to one another, create and share videos with your friends on Facebook, and chat in chat rooms with people that use Facebook.

"Since their launches, we've incorporated elements of Slingshot, Riff and Rooms into the Facebook for iOS and Android apps," Facebook said in a statement. It would appear that due to the lacking demand for these applications, Facebook is choosing to do away with them and add their features to the main Facebook application instead.

It was clear since the beginning that users didn't want a gazillion separate applications for the same service, and it looks like Facebook is taking notice and cutting down some of the application it has in its applications arsenal. That's not to say, however, that Facebook will return messenger to the Facebook application like tons of users would like them to.
