  • Developers Behind f.lux Forced to Stop Offering Recent Side-Loadable iOS App

Yesterday, we shared with you a way to get f.lux on your non-jailbroken iOS devices, but unfortunately, Apple appears to have put an end to that. As it turns out, offering a side-loadable application and bypassing the iOS App Store actually violates Apple's developer agreement, and as a result, the developers behind f.lux have been legally forced to stop offering the software for public download.

What this means is that those who already have the application side-loaded can keep their installation, but from this point forward, the only way to get f.lux is still to have a jailbroken device. The side-loadable application that could be installed on a non-jailbroken iOS device is no longer available for public grabs.

It's indeed an unfortunate end for the young no-jailbreak-required f.lux software, because there are actually a lot of people that like and rely on f.lux to make their iOS devices easier to view later at night. Unfortunately, f.lux modifies a part of iOS that Apple does not allow, so it's not something that will appear in the iOS App Store any time soon unless Apple further opens up its App Store's terms and conditions.

The developers behind f.lux note that the software is highly-demanded for iOS devices, and that the download page received more than 176,000 visits within the first 24 hours of its availability.

The important part. Here's the sha-1 details for those wanting to ensure the mirrors are legit copies. Cheers

This wouldn't be an issue if f.lux went open source. It confuses me that they're seeking a patent for free software that only adds an orange overlay to your screen. Still, I would like to see it included in iOS or on the App Store at some point.

to bad, but hey, there's always jailbreak so its not over, then again, guys just rename it get it under the terms hit it from a different angle and make it work not in the same way but with some kind of background runing like how tweetbot has the option.
