  • Flickr iOS App Gets Much Needed iOS 9 Update With 3D Touch & Spotlight Support

Those of you that use the Flickr application on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad are going to love the most recent update to the application (version 4.0.6) with full support for iOS 9 and its new features.

The updated application now supports 3D Touch, allowing you to do a light firm press to quickly preview photos, people, notifications, and more. The application also supports something called 3D Touch 'Extended,' which means you can see neighboring photos in addition to the one you're already using 3D Touch on. You'll be able to swipe left and right while using 3D Touch to move between photos, and with a hard firm press, you can enter full-screen mode with a particular photo.

Using 3D Touch on the home screen also gives the user quick actions that can make performing simple actions easy right from the home screen without even having to open the application.

In terms of Spotlight search, the new Flickr application lets iOS 9 users include Flickr search results in Spotlight if they wish. This includes your albums, groups, recently-reviews items, and more. Moreover in this update, if you share a Flickr link with someone, and they have Flickr installed, the link will now open Flickr directly rather than Mobile Safari.

Existing users of Flickr for iOS can grab this update for free under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download Flickr for free from this App Store link.
