  • KGI Securities Analyst Claims Apple Will Be Producing 4-inch iPhone in 2016

A new report from KGI Securities Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, notes that Apple is preparing to produce a 4-inch iPhone again next year. The new 4-inch device is said to be an iPhone 5s upgrade, which will sport next generation’s software, an A9 system-on-chip, and a metal casing. Kuo has had accurate predictions and estimates in the past, so this is likely to be true.

Although Apple has been focusing a lot of their time on producing a larger device, it was noted that demand for a smaller 4-inch device is still present. Apparently the Cupertino-based company will be mass producing this device in the first 6 months of 2016 and might even launch it with the company’s ‘iPhone 7’ next year.

Kuo has predicted that the device will have a metal casing wrapped around the processor and circuits. However, it is likely that an A9 SoC will come with the device, which will be a component from last generation when the device launches. Ever since Apple has discontinued the iPhone 5c, they have yet to replace a ‘budget’ smartphone.

The new 4-inch iPhone may be the company’s new ‘budget’ device and if so, we believe that it will do well with their targeted demographic. Kuo predicted that approximately 20 million to 30 million units will be sold next year. What are your thoughts on this new iPhone? Share with us in the section below.

Knowing Apple I highly doubt this will be a ""budget" device.

The last "budget" device was the 5C. I owned one. It retailed for $549 for a 16GB. Wonder what "budget" will mean this time.

I think this will be a flop like the 5c.

I think it will be a hit, budget? if they can be 400 to max 450 I think it could be a well received product and move more to the ios crowd

Here we go again with the rumors. The warning sign is the "analyst claim". 1 moron predicting the future based on whatever.

This seems like a completely bogus story. There's no reason to believe Apple is worried about producing a budget device. The kind of specs they are throwing at it are wildly speculative/guesswork. This should be read with much less than a grain of salt on the believability scale.

I'll keep hoping for this, but not holding my breath. I would love to have a 4" device again. I have been unhappy ever since I upgraded from the 5S.

If Apple could release a $399 4" iphone their marketshare would start growing even faster than it did after they started keeping old models at discount prices or the releasing the 6.

Kuo's been accurate with his predictions in the past. I'm hoping this is true, as 75% of my family members want a 4" iPhone. Also, I'm hoping it has the same specs and features as the larger iPhones.

Where do you get your information from? Market share would grow faster by releasing a 4" device? Because of the lower price? Didn't you notice consumers are willing to pay premium price for premium products? Maybe not you but you're a small demographic.
How about a 2" phone? Or a 720p Apple TV? Or maybe they should do a 15" iMac. How's that for increasing market share?

They already have a 2" phone. It's called Apple Watch.

The iPhone 5s is probably my favorite of all the Apple Devices, the size, speed, and feel were perfect. I hope the rumors are true but also that the phone will be a budget phone, priced somewhere around $400.

thank god... The new iPhones are hard to use in one hand... The iphone 5 and 5s were almost hard to use with one hand.

Doubt Apple will do this.. But let's face it.. There are only 2 real reasons people need one hand operation..
      1) texting while eating
      2) texting while driving..
... The last of which is damn foolish..

Exactly. That's why I had (technically still have) the 6 Plus and now 6S Plus. I use it two handed. Absolutely love the battery life. Some won't believe I don't charge for 3 days. I'm not on Facebook or Snapchat so that could be the reason for long battery life also.

I'm one of the people who want a smaller iPhone. No, I don't need to text while eating/driving, I like the smaller form factor. I like how it fits in my pocket.

      I'm hopeful they make a non-budget, full-featured 4" iPhone.

Just upgraded from iPhone 5 to 5s today. I tried a 6 for a few days and just didn't like the size. My iPad Air is good enough if I want something bigger. Love the 5s.
