  • Eddy Cue Dances Around Apple TV Question

On Thursday, CNN published a new interview with Apple's Senior Vice President Eddy Cue.

On the eve of new Apple TVs being shipped to the masses, Cue is talking up the refreshed set-top box and the plethora of new features now available through the platform.

But Cue isn't giving away many clues with regard to where Apple is taking it's set-top box from this point forward.

"We have over 20 million Apple TV's in households today," Cue said in the interview. "We think this is really going to revolutionize television. So this is a big deal for us."

But one issue that reportedly holds back Apple TV's more widespread expansion is the lack of original content. With programming like "House of Cards" being responsible for many Netflix subscriptions, some think its only a matter of time before Apple makes original and exclusive content a high priority for Apple TV.

Of course, Cue won't commit on that speculation, however.

"We love working with our partners. We're great at technology, and they're great at creating content, and we think that's a great partnership to have," Cue said, effectively dancing around the question and not confirming one way or another if original programming is coming soon to Apple TV.

      revolutionize TV....
I barely use my Apple TV while I can not live without my Tivo.
Unless this new Apple TV can beat Tivo (I fail to see how), revolutionize TV is over exaggeration.

While both TIVO and Apple TV share the same broad category, they are in no way competing products.

You and I are at opposite ends here.

I stopped paying for cable in 2008 and use my ATV as a video playing device to play files from my NAS and streamed content from various services as my only form of television & movies. I'm excited about the future of the ATV. I currently own 2 ATV2's, 1 ATV3, & plan to pickup an ATV4 from the Apple Store this weekend. It's all about perspective and how you utilize the device in your life.
