  • Apple Watch Helped Grow Overall Sales in Apple's 'Other Products' Category

Apple has recently revealed that Apple Watch sales reached over $1.69 billion by the end of last month, though not giving any specific sales figures. The Cupertino-based company’s 10-Q filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission noted that the Apple Watch accounted for more than 100% of the year-over-year increase in revenue in the ‘Other Products’ category. It is unclear as to how the rest of the products in Apple’s ‘Other’ category did, but other products in the group includede their iPod lineup, Beats hardware, and the Apple TV.

The Cupertino-based company’s ‘other products’ category had been declining until fiscal 2015 third quarter, which was when the company’s smartwatch was released. In the three month period, sales for that category increased 56% and increased in total revenue as well. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the Apple Watch was what brought the category up all in all. The Apple Watch was released in April and the fiscal year ended last month on the 26th. Ever since the watch launched, Apple has yet to reveal actual numbers but did mention that sales for the device is doing much better than they anticipated.

The ‘Other Products’ category for Apple, increased a total of 61% year over year in 2015. With the holiday season coming up and launch of the 4th generation Apple TV, the total number is bound to increase even more.
