  • Moviegoers Show Little Interest in New Steve Jobs Film

If you're looking for a quiet getaway to nap or lounge around in total isolation, can't go wrong with a movie theater showing the new Steve Jobs movie. Those places are cinematic ghost towns.

That's according to a string of reports Monday recounting the aftermath of the epic cinematic bomb that was dropped on Hollywood over the weekend. "Steve Jobs" drew extremely low interest among movie-goers and the box office tally reflects it.

    Few, however, saw this coming.

"After racking up the year's best per-screen average in its opening weekend and doing strong business in limited expansion, 'Steve Jobs' hit a stumbling block in its national release," The Chicago Tribune reported. "It debuted to a measly $7.3 million, only a little more than the $6.7 million that 'Jobs,' a critically derided film about the iPhone father with Ashton Kutcher, made in its initial weekend."

Some estimates called for the picture to bring in closer to $20 million its opening weekend.

Nonetheless, producers and studio execs behind the Aaron Sorkin-penned movie are optimistic about box office receipts turning around and the potential for further revenue in the realm of digital downloads and DVD sales.

"We are going to continue to support the film in the markets where it is showing strength and we're going to continue to do it aggressively and proactively," Nick Carpou, Universal's domestic distribution chief, is quoted in the report. "The critics are there for it and the buzz in these markets is strong."

Probably because most people on the earth don't care about Steve Jobs. He's been dead for years now. Maybe this will encourage no one to make yet another movie about him.

Im sure we'll see a remake of all the Job's movies within a 10 year period. Hollywood with its lack of creativity and originality.
