  • Apple Asks for tvOS App Submissions Ahead of Device Launch

In an effort to prepare for next week’s launch of an all-new Apple TV that will be supported by a dedicated App Store, the Cupertino California company this past week sent out emails to developers asking for tvOS app submissions tested on the latest golden master seed. For those of you who didn’t already know, calling for app submissions has become a normal occurrence for Apple after releasing the GM build for a major operating system as the company did recently for the tvOS.

As of right now, developers are being asked to build their wares using the Xcode 7.1 GM, which includes the tvOS SDK, Apple is also urging developers to get feedback from testers via TestFlight (which as of right now happens to be other developers who were lucky enough to get a developer kit).

Alongside the email blast, Apple also posted an app submission guide on its developer website with links to resources, downloads and other info. The topics covered include app icon and design optimization, preparing product pages, setting a release date and more. The Cupertino California company also updated its App Store Review Guidelines earlier this week in an effort to account for made-for-Apple TV apps, stating that anything doesn’t offer core support for the new Siri remote will be rejected.

The Apple TV orders are set to go live next Monday with shipments being sent out later next week. As far as pricing goes, the fourth generation Apple TV starts at $149 for a 32 GB model and $199 for a 64 GB version.
