  • Google Unveils YouTube Red Subscription Program

Google this morning lifted the curtain on a new subscription-based offering that is reportedly exactly what YouTube users have been asking for.

Specifically, Google says, viewers want "more choice" when it comes to taking in content -- in particular, more ways to support their favorite creators and enjoy their favorite videos uninterrupted."

The new offering -- YouTube Red -- is set to launch next week on October 28th. It's promise? The "ultimate YouTube experience."

YouTube Red lets you enjoy videos across all of YouTube without ads, while also letting you save videos to watch offline on your phone or tablet and play videos in the background, all for $9.99 a month.

Google says these membership offerings extend across devices and also include the company's recently launched Gaming app and also a new YouTube Music app that will be "available soon."

good luck with that.... More than netflix lol. Maybe for $1.00 a month. It's not even worth the hassle of signing in to not view a 10 second ad.

lol $120/year? That's a rip off. Like the guy above me said, I'd do it for $1.

Netflix raised their 2-stream subscription to $9.99, so same price.
