  • Pangu Updates iOS 9 Jailbreak Tool to Version 1.0.1 With Improvements & Bug Fixes

The Pangu Jailbreak Team has released an updated version of its all-new iOS 9.0-9.0.2 untethered jailbreak tool on Thursday that fixes some problems users were having while trying to jailbreak their devices on a Windows machine. As of this point in time, the tool is still Windows-only, but it's possible to run the jailbreak via a Windows virtual machine on your Mac like we did in our guide on how to jailbreak iOS 9.0-9.0.2 with Pangu9.

Version 1.0.1 of the tool is available on Pangu's Web site with the following fixes:

    • Fix a bug that leads to 0A error code.
    • Fix failure of launching on some PC.
    • Improve success rate.
    • Ensure the removal of the Pangu app.

As you can see, the update is really only out to help those that have been unable to jailbreak due to issues getting the tool to open or complete the jailbreak on their machines. So what that means is that if you've already jailbroken your device with Pangu9 1.0.0, then there's no reason to restore and re-jailbreak your device, and there's also no reason to re-run the jailbreak tool over your existing jailbreak.

In a recent Poll, about 68% of you said you would be jailbreaking iOS 9 for sure, while another 21% said you were still thinking about it. If you need a few reasons as to why you should jump aboard iOS 9 today and jailbreak it with Pangu9, you can read our post about it here. With Cydia Installer and Cydia Substrate already ready for iOS 9, many jailbreak tweaks are being released for iOS 9 right now, and you can get started with the fun immediately. Others, still need updates.

The latest version of Pangu9 can be downloaded at this link.

I read some people had issues jail breaking with a password protected backup, and shutting that off fixed it. How does this effect health data which requires the password protected backup?

On both my 6s+ and iPad mini 2 I get this error:

      Runtime Error!

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

I don't see how it should affect data as such. It's simply a step that prolongs the jailbreak while you unlock manually (or stops it if you forget). You're simply injecting and jailbreaking, not wiping the device or deleting data off of it.

And anyway, you should have a backup before doing anything.

My 5s on 8.x is corporate, hence password is mandatory. I haven't had issues with jailbreaking from that point. I just quickly enter it when the phone boots up and JB app says "please unlock your phone to continue".

However, I did have issues with Cydia on Pangu 1.0.0 where it crashes upon startup after JB.

The only solution was a backup at that time, then full restore into a new empty phone, then jailbreak (cydia now works), then restore from your backup.

      HTH

When the Pandu desktop app what finished, did it show as completed?

I had the same issue and realized the app wasn't finished. I hit the start button again and Pangu went through its final processes and Cydia was installed.

Anyone notice that when you go to unzip the file there is a MACOSX folder in the .zip? I don't own a Mac but just thought it was weird. Unless they made a tool for it and I haven't read anything on it yet.
