  • New Steve Jobs Flick Proves Powerful in Weekend Box Office Opening

Proving once again that controversy does, indeed, generate cash, the new movie about the life and legacy of Steve Jobs was a box office success over the weekend, according to reports Monday.

Despite a flood of criticisms about the film in recent weeks from family, friends, and former colleagues of the late Apple co-founder (criticisms about the film being too harsh or exploitative with regard to Jobs), movie-goers came out in droves on opening weekend.

Steve Jobs brought in p $521,000 over the weekend. Doesn't sound like much, but the film was initially released to a small number of theaters. "That ranks the movie as the 15th highest pre-theater release in history, but the highest of 2015 so far, and is a good sign of what’s to come when it opens globally later this month," TNW reports.

The strong opening coupled with the hype that now awaits the film's more widespread release later in October, spells big box office potential and the likelihood for a boatload of awards season nominations.

But wasn't he a horrible person in his private life. Just shows you don't know the real man!

The impression I always got was that everyone liked working at Apple but hated working for him.
