  • Apple's New 4K 21.5-inch Retina iMac Rumored to Launch Next Week

A new report from 9to5Mac claims Apple’s upcoming 21.5-inch 4K Retina iMac will launch as early as next week. Production for the new desktop is expected to ramp up next month, so inventory may be limited with some shelving stores October 13th. It has been rumored for some time now that Apple’s revamped smaller iMac would launch in the fall but 9to5Mac is reporting next week specifically. The 21.5-inch iMac will sport a 4096x2304 resolution and possible Broadwell chips with AMD Radeon M380-M395X discrete graphics and Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200.

Apple debuted a low-end1.4GHz 21.5-inch iMac last year that was priced at $1,099 in June. The Cupertino-based company never officially announced their upcoming 4K Retina iMac, but a 4,096x2,304 pixel display was discovered in OS X 10.11 El Capitan. The new iMac is expected to have an improvement in display quality with better color saturation. Pricing of the new desktop will be higher than current iMacs because of the 4K retina display.
