  • Google Releases New YouTube App With Material Design for iOS, Inclusive Video Editing

On Monday, Google released an updated YouTube application for iOS with the much-anticipated material design look and feel that Android devices have had for some time.

The updated user interface looks a whole lot nicer than before with its use of bolder colors, which are noticeable right off the bat with the red navigation bar with tabs for easy navigation between your video feed, subscription videos, and your own user profile. Above, you can see some screenshot examples of the new YouTube application.

It's also worth noting that Google has put some time into developing basic integrated tools that help users edit the videos that they want to publish on YouTube in this update:

The new YouTube application for iOS is available for existing users under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can also head over to this App Store link to download the latest version of YouTube free of cost.

The only difference I see is an ugly new YouTube icon. Nothing else besides that.

Maybe google wants people to confuse YouTube for Netflix. The icons are extremely similar. Maybe they will get a few extra clicks.

That happened to me too. I cleared out the app in the task manager, ran iCleaner (I'm jailbroken) and rebooted and the new UI showed up.

Even if you're not jailbroken, try closing it out totally (in the task manager, home button double click screen) and rebooting.

I had this updated when i was running iOS 9.1 Beta. I liked it. I rolled back to 9 and updated the app this morning and mine also looks the same.

Select few people had preliminary testing.

As for those not seeing the changes, on every single one of my devices the application looked the same, but closing the application from the App Switcher, waiting 5 minutes, and opening it again made the new interface show up on every single device. It must be the way Google made the application this time around.

It doesn't seem to change the UI on my 4s which is on 9.0.1. But the search text is way too large to see what you're typing on the 5s 9.1 beta 4.
