  • Apple Seeds Third iOS 9.1 Beta to Developers for Testing

On Wednesday, alongside the public release of iOS 9.0.2, Apple has seeded a third beta of iOS 9.1 to developers for testing, which comes one week after the seed of iOS 9.1 beta 2.

The new iOS 9.1 beta is intended to improve the performance and reliability of the beta firmware. Developers are being asked to download and test the firmware to make sure that not only their applications will be compatible, but also to ensure that the operating system is as bug-free as possible for a public release some time this Fall.

The general rumor is that iOS 9.1 will add support for Apple's new iPad Pro, as well as the new accessories like the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard, which will all launch in November. It's also worth noting that the update adds new Emojis to the operating system, including a middle finger, taco, unicorn, and cheese block among others, just like the OS X 10.11.1 beta that is currently in testing phases for Mac computers.

Developers can grab the new iOS 9.1 beta via the OTA (over the air) update function found under Settings > General > Software Update, or by visiting the developer center portion of Apple's Web site, where the firmware file can be had separately and installed manually on the device with iTunes.
