  • $1,800 TAG Heuer Watch Launching in November to Compete with Apple Watch

Luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer announced recently that they will be launching a smartwatch with a price tag of $1,800+ in November, which will compete with the Apple Watch. Under the luxury LVMH group, TAG Heuer noted that even though they will be releasing a new wearable device, it won’t even make up for the troubling 2016 for the brand. LVMH’s head of watchmaking division, Jean-Claude Biver sat down with Bloomberg for a recent interview and expressed his concerns for the upcoming year.

According to Bloomberg, Biver noted that he believes one of the reasons there’s a decrease in sales is due to China’s economic slowdown. The publication also stated that Apple’s smartwatch has to do with the decrease in sales as well. There was a reported decrease in export in August marking the “first annual decline in six years,” which was apparently due to the Apple Watch.

TAG Heurer’s smartwatch will go on sale on November 9th at 11:00am ET in New York. Biver said that it will look like a regular timepiece but have functions of a smartwatch so that it is more unique than the digital display appearance on the Apple Watch. The hefty priced smartwatch will run Google’s Android Wear platform with Intel development. The watch executive was concerned about the price tag at first but no longer worried when Apple and Hermès partnered and released high-end wristbands for the Apple Watch.

Which of the two would you purchase if you were on the market for a smartwatch and why? Share your thoughts with us in the section below.

Can't be sure until I've actually seen the TAG, but I think I'd lean Apple because, in a word, ..development.

I've seen it in articles months back. its really nice but I'm tired of this competing stuff. no one is really going to flock to by a tag heuer.
