  • Apple Releases iOS 9.0.1 to the Public With Bug Fixes

On Wednesday, Apple released iOS 9.0.1 to the general public with some bug fixes. The update comes exactly one week after the initial release of iOS 9 to the public, and it's the first public update to the operating system to be released since the initial launch.

Apple notes in the change log that the update fixes the following issues:

    • A problem where users were unable to complete setup assistant after the iOS 9 upgrade
    • A problem where alarms and timers would fail to make a sound
    • A problem where pausing videos in Safari or Photos could cause the paused frame to appear distorted
    • A problem where configuring a custom APN would cause the iPhone to close its cellular data connection

We just got done installing the update on one of our devices, and it appears that the update also addresses some of the major lagginess and frame-drop problems in animations throughout the operating system. It's not perfect yet, but it feels a lot more usable than the initial iOS 9.0 release. Notably, the iOS 9.1 beta also appears snappier than the initial iOS 9.0 release.

You can grab this update with iTunes, or by going to Settings > General > Software Update on your iOS 9 device.

Just unlocking it the first time from turning it on after updating, the animations were already smoother. Apps are ever so slightly more responsive. They don't have the slight hesitation as they did on 9.0. So it seems more stable. That's all I've got. I didn't have the issue upgrading to 9.0, or whatnot. Maybe this will help my little sister's iPhone 6. She's had tons of issues with 9.0.

Tried it...still don't like it...it's still a little jittery on ip5 but is better than 9.0...I just don't like the new switcher much at all..I like having my favorites at top of switcher for quick call access..went back to 8.4.1 while I still could...staying on 8..think I may skip 9 altogether..

I really don't like the new app switcher on iOS 9! It's a good thing I have 2 iPhones - one on iOS 9 and another one jailbroken with Gridswitcher
