  • Foursquare App Gets Support for iOS 9's Spotlight Search and Easy Movie Searching

On Tuesday, Foursquare released an update for its iOS application bringing it up to version 9.6 in the iOS App Store.

The updated version of the application mainly adds support for iOS 9, as well as integrating the application with iOS 9's new Spotlight APIs, which let the user search for things in Foursquare by using the Spotlight search bar to the left of the Home Screen or by swiping down on the Home Screen. Users can enable or disable what appears from each application in Spotlight via the Settings application on their iOS 9 devices.

Notably, the update also makes it so that users can search for movies in the application, and Foursquare will automatically show the user what movie theaters near them are playing the movie that they're interested in watching. This will compete with features from other movie-searching applications, such as iTunes Movie Trailers and IMDb.

The update also adds a number of bug fixes and improvements. Existing users of Foursquare for iOS can update via the Updates tab in the App Store application for free; alternatively, you can download the latest version of Foursquare for iOS for free from this App Store link.
