  • Apple Confirms Screen Protectors to Work With New iPhones Despite New 3D Touch Feature

Apple’s new iPhone 6s lineup is just a little over a week away from being released and everyone who ordered the device is probably gearing up and preparing to use it as soon as they receive it. Preparing most likely involves purchasing a case and screen protector before the device gets delivered. Just a few days ago, we reported that those who have a case for their iPhone 6/6 Plus won’t have to purchase a new case (unless they wanted to) for the iPhone 6s/6s Plus. The old cases have been said to be compatible with the new iPhones as many case packaging notes both the new and old iPhone.

Now, a new report from 3D Techtronics confirmed that screen protectors will be working with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus even though the new iPhones have a new screen technology called 3D Touch. Due to the way the 3D Touch operates, many people were questioning whether or not a screen protector would interfere with being able to use the new feature. Apparently Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller told 3D Techtronics in an email confirming that screen protectors comply with all Apple guidelines.

Yes. screen overlays that follow our guidelines will continue to work with 3D Touch.
Apple’s online store is selling many different brands of screen protectors, so we can’t imagine they’d sell something that would limit consumers in using a feature on their own device. The same screen protectors will most likely fit both the iPhone 6/6 Plus and iPhone 6s/6s Plus just like how companies are making cases work with both.

I'm relieved because I purchased 2 Tech Armor Ballistics Glass screen protectors yesterday and then ended up finding 2 more at home this morning.

I saw on the Cult of Mac website that it has to be .3mm or something like that for 3D Touch to work. Zagg apparently has .4mm for theirs. Not sure how much that's true, but just a heads up.

A regular plastic screen protector I'm sure has no problem. The real question is will glass screen protectors work? And this article doesn't really go into detail about it working with glass screen protectors. Guess ill know on the 25th, cause i have two extra glass protectors on hand.

It's the same thing as the apple watch and I've got a glass screen protector on my Apple watch and it works fine. And it's pretty thick and ugly too lmao but it works fine

Supposedly apple claims that the screens are sensitive enough to detect the gravity of the earth so I can't imagine this will be too big of an issue.
