  • Burberry Announces New Apple Music Streaming Channel

UK luxury fashion brand Burberry recently announced that they launched a channel on Apple Music, dedicated to featuring music from the company’s Burberry Acoustic Initiative. According to The New York Times, the program highlights up and rising music artists and the new streaming channel is listed under ‘Curator Playlists’. This is the company’s first collaboration since Apple’s current SVP of Retail and Online Stores, Angela Ahrendts, left the design house and went to Apple.

Burberry’s channel so far has songs selected from Christopher Bailey-the company’s CEO, selections that were played from the company’s runway, and selections from rising British talent. Burberry’s Womenswear show is scheduled to take place on September 21st this year, and the company has plans to include exclusive video content of British artists at the show to help introduce the new channel. Going forward, it was noted that the channel would feature films, songs, and performances from the company’s work with Burberry Acoustic.

According to The New York Times,

“I am excited about our partnership with Apple on this amazing platform which will enable us to take what we do now with Burberry Acoustic and share it with an even bigger audience," Christopher Bailey, Burberry's chief executive, said in a statement.
The two companies have collaborated many times in the past, with the very first time back in 2013 where Burberry helped showoff iPhone 5s capabilities by documenting the Prorsum Womenswear S/S14 show. Then in 2014, Apple hired the then Burberry CEO, Angela Ahrendts to work for them.
