  • Apple Watch Launching at John Lewis and Currys September 18th

According to Wareable, the Apple Watch will begin to expand to some mainstream UK department stores and Currys and John Lewis have been added to that list. Previously in the UK, the Apple smartwatch was only being sold in Apple Stores and some high-end boutiques. We reported weeks ago that Currys would begin to carry the wearable device, but no specified date was ever given.

Now, with the recent announcement of the Apple Watch coming to John Lewis department stores, it was noted that the device will be launching in both stores on September 18th. There are a total of 44 John Lewis stores in the UK, but only 37 will be carrying it with an additional four around the holidays.

According to the head of buying communication technology at John Lewis, Will Jones,

We believe Apple Watch will be one of the most sought after gifts this Christmas. We expect a couple more British retailers to follow but Apple isn't going to rush to remove the air of exclusivity around the Watch it is still just about maintaining.
Currys on the other hand, has stores in both the UK and Ireland. It isnít clear as to how many stores out of the 295 superstores and 73 high street stores will be carrying it. Both stores will be making the Apple Watch available online with Currys allowing pre-orders for the smartwatch now. If you are living in the UK or Ireland and want to purchase the wearable device, be on the lookout as stores will be carrying it starting this week.
