  • Apple Ups the Price of AppleCare+ for the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus

Apple has increased the price of extending your AppleCare warranty with AppleCare+ with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In previous iPhone releases, Adding another two years of AppleCare support would set the buyer back $99, but this year, Apple has increased the amount by 30%, putting the cost at $129. In addition, service fee pricing has increased from $79 to $99.

For users that are worried about keeping their expensive devices working for years on end, even when things break, this is still a good investment to have. Without AppleCare+, iPhone users are only entitled to services one year after the purchase date of the device.

It's worth noting that the price increase is only for the latest devices. Those buying older iPhones, like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5s will still only pay $99 for AppleCare+ and $79 for service charges.

As Apple builds more intricate devices, there are more parts that can fail and that can go wrong. By increasing these prices, Apple's revenue will increase on the backs of consumers as people buy insurance for their devices and pay for repairs that are otherwise not fully covered, such as shattered screens.

Still, AppleCare+ is a fully-optional plan and people can opt out of it at the get-go.

Wow! Smh... As someone who works for Apple this just doesn't sit right with me lol $99 was a price that was easy to present to customers cause AppleCare+ has value to it. But increasing it to $129 AND making the service fee $99 to swap out your phone on the spot is just a terrible idea. We have no money problems. If anything we have too much money lol oh well...

But if I subsidize the the phone from Apple, AppleCare is included, and if I upgrade every year, I never really pay the $129 premium, right?

My biggest concern with AppleCare for iPhones is that it doesn't cover loss/theft. That's the only reason why I keep my phones insured through my carrier.

I always buy AppleCare+ for all of my devices including insurance through my carrier (in case device is lost or stolen). I don't even notice the cost because my carrier insurance is included with Lookout and Jump!

i believe that makes sense. they want people to upgrade with apple every year and be on apple terms which isn't a bad thing. i never bought nor needed insurance though.

Hopefully Squaretrade keeps their warranty at $99.

I have Never bought AppleCare and I never will. Call me lucky or just call me an average person. But I have never broke, lost, or had my phone stolen either. And I have had every other iPhone since the 3GS. Heck, I dont even waste the 30 dollars on the glass protection things for the screen. And I have never scratched my phone either...
They can take their overpriced AppleCare and shove it...

I still get the glass protector just in case. But my 5 I never got one and it was still surprisingly flawless after 2 years when I upgraded to the 6

Kevin, you are fired. Don't bother to clock in and your EPP+ has been completely revoked. Good luck with Android.
