  • Apple Seeds Golden Master of iOS 9, watch OS 2, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, and iOS 9.1 Beta

On Wednesday, following the special media event where Apple unveiled its new products like the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Pro, iPad mini 4, and new Apple TV, Apple has seeded official golden master versions of iOS 9, watch OS 2, and OS X 10.11 El Capitan to developers for their final testing.

The Golden Master versions are the closest versions to the public release that developers will see, and often times, the official public release is unchanged from the Golden Master releases.

iOS 9 and watch OS 2 will be available to the public next week, September 16th, while OS X 10.11 El Capitan won't be available until later in the month, on September 30th.

It's also worth noting that alongside these Golden Masters, Apple has seeded a new beta of iOS 9.1 beta 1, which is currently leaving the mystery of what Apple is changing already ahead of the official public release of iOS 9. Being a 9.x update, it's sure to have some important new features and not just minor improvements; it's possible that it may include support for integration with the new Apple TV, but this is only speculation.

Developers can access these betas either on their test devices or online via the developer section of Apple's Web site.

U can restore from a backup made in say 8.4.1, and restore from it on 8.4.1, but u can't restore from a backup made in iOS 9 on 8.4.1..

I got the alert that I need to update my software. I think I'm on iOS 9 beta 3. But when I go to setting to update it says I'm on the current version. Is the GM only via iTunes?

GM is only via dev center. Officially anyway.

Ahh I see. Makes sense. This was my first time doing the public beta so I wasn't sure.

At some point you should get the option to install the final version since you are on the public beta. Will probably be when it is released next week though.
