  • Apple Partners with Cisco to Strengthen its Presence in the Enterprise Market

Soon, corporate users will have a better reason to choose Appleís mobile devices over those made by other companies as networking giant, Cisco, is set to team up with Apple to help optimize enterprise networks for iOS devices. The two Silicon Valley giants will be working together to ensure that iOS devices will work more efficiently on Cisco-powered networks, including deeper integration with the networking giantís industry standard voice and video communications products. Corporate users will reportedly be able to use their iPhone or the Cisco handset on their desk interchangeably as part of the combined efforts.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, said the following in a release regarding the matter:

iOS is the world's best mobile platform, and nearly every Fortune 500 and Global 500 company today has put iOS at the center of their mobile strategy. iPhone and iPad have become essential tools for the modern workforce and are changing the way work gets done. Together with Cisco, we believe we can give businesses the tools to maximize the potential of iOS and help employees become even more productive using the devices they already love.
This is the second time in the past year that Apple has expanded its enterprise share by collaborating with traditional corporate IT providers. Previously the Cupertino California company partnered up with IBM.

Similar to IBM, Cisco has a long-standing foothold in the enterprise industry. The company is currently one of the largest providers of enterprise networking devices and networked services in the world. Itís offerings touch nearly every aspect of corporate telecommunications. Cisco Executive Chairman, John Chambers, had the following to say regarding the matter:

Through this engineering and go-to-market partnership, we're offering our joint customers the ability to seamlessly extend that awesome Cisco environment to their favorite iOS devices. Together, we're going to help teams achieve higher levels of productivity and effectiveness.
Weíll have to wait and see what comes to fruition with this new partnership.

This is thrilling news to me! I use Webex, & Jabber at work with telepresence end points on our Call Manager, and I use Mac & iDevices all the time for mobility & personal use. Am very much looking forward to any & all interoperability. Am hoping facetime/iMessage will do URI dialing & XMPP or some kind of intergration. My Cisco sales rep will only say they sneak preview they were shown is incredible.
