  • Apple Seeds OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 8 to Developers, Sixth Public Beta

On Monday, Apple has seeded an eighth beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to developers for testing, as well as a sixth public beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to Public Beta participants for testing.

The new beta, which comes with the build number 15A279b, can be downloaded from the Mac App Store's Updates tab on machines that have an outdated beta installed on them. Developers can take advantage of the latest update to ensure that the application's they've been updating for the new operating system will be compatible, while Public Beta participants can help Apple by reporting bugs as they're discovered so that they don't plague the final public release this Fall.

The update includes various bug fixes and performance improvements over the last beta, although the specifics are not listed, so it's difficult to speculate on what could be new at this point in time.

Apple will be hosting a special event on September 9th, where the company is expected to unveil the next generation iPhones, as well as reveal release date information for iOS 9, watch OS 2, and OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
