  • German Mobile Carriers Preparing to Launch Next iPhone on September 18th

We reported last week that German mobile carrier Deutsche Telekom was ahead of the game again and launched an online reservation program for Apple’s upcoming iPhone. This was definitely interesting because Apple has yet to even announce when their iPhone event will take place this year, let alone a launch date. The rumored date for the unveiling event is September 9th but nothing has been confirmed. Now, it has been reported that German mobile carriers are preparing to launch the next device, dubbed the iPhone 6s/6s Plus on September 18th.

According to Macerkopf, two out of three major mobile carriers in Germany are on board for the September 18th launch date. In Germany, the three biggest carriers are Vodafone, O2, and T-Mobile DE which is owned by Deutsche Telekom. It is unclear as to which two are participating, but we are assuming Deutsche Telekom is one of them considering they already have a reservation program. It is possible that all three will have the device by the 18th if the unveiling is indeed on the 9th.

Germany has been on Apple’s list of first-tier launch countries for years now, so if everything goes as planned with what rumors are claiming, then Germany is definitely way ahead of everyone else. We definitely think U.S. mobile carriers should follow suit so that people don’t have to stay up waiting to preorder devices in the middle of the night. Apparently the way the reservation program works is if customers sign up with a valid phone number and email address, the company promises preferred delivery for the future device.
