  • Apple Sets Sights on Windy City for Major Retail Revival

Apple has its sights set on Chicago for a major new flagship retail store. That's according to media reports out of the Windy City today.

Apple, we're told, wants to relocate its Michigan Avenue store several blocks south to the Chicago River where all the world's foremost retail destinations are piling up. In short, Apple wants to hang with fellow retail titans in their new economic playground.

Apple's new store is expected to be accessible via street level—likely through a new glass structure—on Pioneer Court, the plaza in front of a 35-story office building owned by Chicago-based Zeller Realty Group, the sources said.
Crain's Chicago Business did some additional prodding, but Apple won't officially comment on the rumored plans. But those in-the-know contend that Apple is looking at a significant upgrade in Chicago, a move now expected sooner rather than later.
