  • Catalyst Commences Pre-Order of its First Apple Watch Cases, and They're Waterproof

Despite the fact that the Apple Watch has tried and true resistance against water, Apple still claims that the Apple Watch is only IPX7 water resistant. The Apple Watch has been widely acclaimed to be capable of handling much more water than Apple seems to stand behind. Nonetheless, Catalyst, a popular waterproof iPhone and iPad case company, is now introducing its first Apple Watch case, which is also waterproof.

It will be available for the 42mm version of the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition, and will offer IP-68 waterproof protection and MIL-SPEC 810G drop protection for $59.99. The company also says that the Apple Watch case will protect against the briny salt water at the beach.

The Catalyst Apple Watch case will be available in different color options, including stealth black, rescue ranger, and green pop, all of which are pictured above. Although the company advertises a slim design, it does cover the button and digital crown with protective covers. Each case also comes with a color-matched 24mm NATO nylon wrist strap.

It's worth noting that the case doesn't negatively impact any of the sensors on the Apple Watch, so if you're active and you use the heart-rate sensor, you don't have to worry about the case getting in the way and giving you inaccurate readings.

If you're interested in placing your order, you can do so from Catalyst's Web site at this link. It's in pre-order stages right now and will begin shipping in November.

I have big hands and wrist. I don't mind the black case and band but the band is still a bit narrow for me. I went with the Lunatik offering seen below:

The case and band do not really look that pleasing to the eye just my 2cents.

Only bad thing is by the time they ship these out, it's going to be winter time and no need for a case like this until next summer. Which then, maybe the 2nd Generation Apple watch will be out, but may not be the same size specs.

I bought their very 1st waterproof case for my 4S and by the time I got it in August, I had my iPhone 5 in September never using the waterproof case for my 4S wasting 80-90.00. I ended up giving the case to my sister.

I got the Lunatik "Imperial" package and it's awesome. Mixed the black metal case with the white plastic band. Looks killer.
