  • Microsoft Announces Previews of New Skype for Business Apps for iOS and Android

Although Microsoft offers a Skype application for the iOS and Android platforms for everyday users, the company also offers a version for business users that demand more.

Microsoft has announced this week that it intends to update its business-based application on the platforms for business users. The application will take cues from the business edition of Skype for the desktop, which allows for messaging, video calls, voice calls, and more for up to 250 individuals that might be collaborating on a project at work, as well as calendar integration.

The new Skype for Business application will make it easier for those on mobile devices to join in on the conversation without having to be tethered to a desktop computer or laptop. The new application will offer many of the features offered in the desktop version of the application right on those mobile devices.

    New features include:

Microsoft is launching an enterprise preview via the Business Preview Program, which will let businesses check out some of the main new features before they decide to move to the platform when it's available later this year.

We are testing Skype for Business in my IT Dept. It has more bells and whistles than Lync. I have to learn it to support it haha.

Good luck, its a miserable experience. It's Lync with some more bells and whistles. I was originally hoping for it to be more like Skype, instead they just re-used Skype icons while simultaneously making it even less like Skype. Renaming it was a stupid move.
