  • New Report Claims Apple iPhone 6c Unlikely to Launch Next Month

This morning we reported that Twitter user @evleaks (Evan Blass) noted Apple would be unveiling the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and 6c all at the same time next month. However, a new report from mobile app marketing platform Fiksu suggests that it is unlikely the Cupertino-based company will be launching the iPhone 6c in September. Apparently Fisku saw only two Apple iPhone devices in its logs, identified as "iphone8,1" and "iphone8,2” in July. This most likely represents the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s and 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus.

Corresponding with the company’s current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, they were identified as “iphone 7,1” and “iphone 7,2” respectively. The data from the mobile app marketing platform showed no signs of another device, meaning the iPhone 6c has not been (and is not being) tested. There were only 87 "iphone 8,1" devices and 67 "iPhone 8,2" devices being tested. The report also noted that the original plans of launching an iPhone 6c changed due to concerns of it interfering with the new upcoming devices.

We also just reported that rumors are going around claiming the company already notified manufacturers to produce 1% less of the new devices. We’d say with this information floating around, it is no wonder why Apple scratched the idea of launching a cheaper iPhone 6c along with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Are you disappointed in Apple not releasing the iPhone 6c next month like they originally planned? Share your thoughts with us in the section below.

I heard we were getting it. Then we weren't. Then we were. And now this. Not that I would ever buy a 6c

It looks like they very deliberately excluded 7,x devices. Who says it isn't going to be an iPhone7,x device? I mean, iTunes didn't report the iPhone 5C as a variant of the iPhone 5S even though they launched at the same time. It was a variant of the previous generation's iPhone 5, right?

The iPhone 6c never did that well anyway. It seemed they released it to increase number of first time buyers and lower income people but I don't think that was too successful enough for them to warrant doing it again. Also it's better to focus your ad dollars and production costs on 2 phones not 3 because they will have more attention paid to them. I definitely don't miss the C lineup.

"The iPhone 6c never did that well anyway"???? How could it if it never existed?
