  • Apple Pay Adds New US Banks and Credit Unions to its list of Participating Issuers

Apple recently added 46 additional US banks and credit unions to the list of Apple Pay card issuers. The list of card issuers has now expanded to more than 425 financial institutions throughout the country. The recent additions incorporate a relatively even mixture of banks and credit unions. Although certain gaps continue to remain present, Apple Pay does seem to be widely supported by several US banks including key nationwide institutions.

Even as the platform is starting to step outside of the US, many large retailers in America have yet to accept Apple Pay as an acceptable payment solution. The Cupertino California company is hoping to address these issues with iOS 9, when it will start to support Discover cards and various store-branded cards, specifically including loyalty and reward systems to encourage user retention.

I only used Apple Pay twice between getting a 6 plus on release day and getting an Apple Watch two months after first shipments arrived... Few businesses where I live are equipped to use NFC for payments... I do go to Petco every Sunday and I'm always stoked that I can pay with my watch and choose between my bank card and five credit cards quicker than I could take my wallet out... It's fun to use the watch to pay and Apple pay is possibly much less susceptible to theft than the payment systems and plastic cards society has been using for a long time now... I had to change out a card last year after the Target Data breach, Apple Pay is helping to make it a lot harder to steal our card info like that.... Apple Pay with the watch is just so futuristic yet simple and safer seemingly...
